Glossary of common CS2 terms
A wide swing is when you peek an angle from as far away from the wall as possible, giving yourself a big fat arc of vision so you see the enemy before they see you. In theory, it's a galaxy-brain play. In practice, it's how you end up dead in 0.3 seconds because the AWPer was already pre-aimed at your soul.
Dry Peak
The art of peeking an angle without flashes, smokes, or any of that pre-game-planning safety net — just you, your crosshair, and the hope that whoever's holding the angle blinks first. A dry peek is a coin flip dressed up as confidence. Sometimes it's the read of the round. Most of the time it's a death cam.
Clutch
The 1vX. The round nobody expects you to win, which is exactly why winning it feels like a religious experience. A clutch isn't just surviving — it's flipping the round on its head while four teammates type "gg" in chat. The whole brand is named after this moment for a reason.
Cracked
When someone is playing so far above their rank that the lobby genuinely starts wondering if they're cheating. Cracked is a compliment, an accusation, and a vibe all at once. "He's cracked" is the highest praise one CS player can give another without making it weird.
Baiter
The teammate who watches you peek first, lets you eat the bullets, then cleans up the kill and acts surprised. Bait is sometimes strategy. More often it's cowardice with a callout. Every five-stack has one. If you can't spot the baiter, it's you.
Awp crutch
A polite term for someone whose entire skill ceiling lives inside a green scope. Take the AWP away and they play like a silver. There's no shame in maining the big green — but there is shame in pretending it's not the only thing keeping you afloat.
Rush
The strategic decision to skip the strategy entirely. Five guys, one site, full sprint, no smokes. Rushing is either the most galaxy-brained call of the half or the dumbest thing your team has done all year — and you usually don't know which until you're already mid-flight to B.
ELO
The number that decides whether you sleep well tonight. ELO is the invisible math grading every round you play, the rating system that tells the matchmaker how good you are and tells you how good you're allowed to feel. Worship it at your peril.
